Trusting God even in the most difficult times

This topic is very personal to me and I can say now that I am growing in my trust towards God daily.

Trusting God means letting go and letting God have His way; completely relying on Him devoid of any fears whatsoever.

Recently, I have had to deal with fear regarding a particular situation in my life and this fear was beginning to overwhelm me. I would pray about the situation and after a while I would go back to being disturbed. Thankfully, I remembered the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:27 where He said that worrying does not increase one’s size in any way and I started praising. “All of my help” by Geoffrey Golden became a routine song for me anytime my mind started wandering and gradually, I regained my trust in God.

Humanly speaking, it is not easy to trust in God in extremely difficult situations; situations that are just mind-blowing and you can’t seem to comprehend them, however, God wants you to trust Him irrespective of whatever situation you find yourself in.            One thing I tell myself is this, “Funmi you can’t do anything literally but God can”. When I say those words to myself, I feel peace within me and assurance that God will definitely step into that situation. Worrying does not solve anything trust me, it only makes matters worse. PS: I used to be a “Chief Worrier”  if there’s any word like that.

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and seek His will in all that we do. The Bible does not tell us to trust in Him with  1/2 or 1/3 of our hearts, it says all of our heart and that we should acknowledge Him in everything that we do. Don’t think that situation you are in is off-limits to God and there’s no talking to Him about it. Everything that concerns you concerns Him. Psalm 55:22 says that we should give our burdens to God and He will take care of us and will not permit the righteous to slip and fall. God cares for us much more than our minds can imagine and is with us in every step of the way.

In whatever situation you are in, don’t fret, God’s got you, trust in, pray and praise your way through for it will surely end up in praise.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, I thank You for being my help all along. I realise that I can’t change this situation that I am in currently, but I know you can. I trust You to help me and I know that you will. Thank You Lord Jesus for I know You’ve answered for in Jesus Name I have prayed.

Are you growing in love?

Love is more than a feeling, it’s a person and anyone who truly doesn’t know this person can’t love.

Let’s talk about Love and how it transcends to this present age.

God is Love; this is cliché right?

We have heard lots of people say this every now and then. Well, it’s actually the truth, God is Love and He loves us so much more than we can imagine.

John 15:13 tells us that greater love had no man than this that he laid down his life for his friends. Jesus came to die for us showing us the greatest sacrifice anyone could ever make for us.

For I am certain that nothing can separate us from his love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future, neither the world above nor the world below — there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:38-39 GNB

So the question is , do you think God doesn’t love you or do you find it hard to accept His love and walk and grow in it?

Jeremiah 31:3 tells us that God loves us with an everlasting love. His love for us is so unfailing and unending.

Understanding that God is the true embodiment of love means that our lives should portray the kind of affection Jesus displayed here on earth for mankind.

Quick reminder of the story of the woman caught in adultery in John 8:1-11; Jesus told those that accused her that if they had no sin in their lives, they should be the first person to throw a stone at her, they all left one after the other.

From that story, we can see that love is not judgemental; does not outrightly dismiss you but accommodates and yet corrects you.

Are you quick to judge others and criticise their flaws?

Jesus gave us the two most important commandments of all:

1.Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind (see Matthew 22:37).

2.Love your neighbor as yourself (see Matthew 22:39).

The word “neighbor” has been interpreted in different ways; to me, a neighbor is anyone beside you as in a bus, in your workplace, on the street, wherever. You necessarily do not have to live close to the person before you can call the person a neighbor. The Good Samaritan clearly understood this (see Luke 10:25-37).

The ultimate goal is to be like Him (Jesus) in every area of our lives.

Sincerely ask yourself these questions:

“Am I growing in love towards others?”, “Am I showing Christ even in my relationship with others?”.

Lastly, don’t take this as cliché; GOD IS TRULY LOVE!

I sure hope this has blessed you.

Reconciliation and A Life of Holiness – God’s purpose for us

I’m so glad you’re on this journey with me and that you’re here reading this very first post of mine. I pray it blesses you.

————–

The son of God came to save us from our sins; no wonder He is called Jesus which when translated means Jehovah saves, this was the very reason for His coming into this world (see Matthew 1:21). He became sin for us and gave Himself up for us (see 2 Corinthians 5:21). He came to reconcile us back to the Father (God) in order to present us faultless before Him (see Colossians 1.21).

The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 1:16 that we are to live a holy life just as our Father is holy. God seeks holiness from us and His grace is available for us to live a holy life. He said in His word in 2 Peter 1:3 that everything we need to live a godly life through His divine power has been given to us.

So my dear friends, holiness is not impossible and His power that works in us is able to help us live holy if only we can access this power and actually rely on Him. John 15:5b says without Him we can do nothing and we know that with God all things are possible (see Luke 1:37). So trust and believe in Him to live a holy life.

For you to actually receive this divine power to live a holy life, you have to turn away from your sinful ways and accept Jesus into your heart; He is calling to you today:

Look I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” Revelation‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬
